Humans

Humans are the most common people in the realm, and the ones who took the New Age most to heart. When the gods proved fallible and pulled back, it was mortals who saved what could be saved, the Vineheart Party among them, and Humans drew the obvious lesson from it: nobody is coming to save you, so you had better build.

The short life

Eighty years is nothing beside an Elf or a Dwarf, and Humans fill that span with ambition. A Human wants to leave something behind, a house, a trade route, a name people still say afterward. It makes them the great builders and traders of the realm, at home just about anywhere.

It also makes them restless. They will tear down what their grandparents built and raise something new before the old thing has finished failing.

Friction

The longer-lived races find the constant rebuilding exhausting, and a little insulting, as though nothing were ever worth finishing. Humans read all that patience as slowness, and slowness as cowardice.
