Humans

Humans are the most common people in the realm, and the ones who took the New Age most to heart. When the gods proved fallible and pulled back, it was mortals who saved what could be saved (the Vineheart Party among them), and Humans took the obvious lesson from it: nobody is coming to save you, so you’d better build.

They barely get eighty years, which is nothing next to an Elf or a Dwarf, and they pack that time full of Ambition. A Human wants to leave a Mark. A house, a trade route, a name people still say after they’re gone, anything that outlasts the short life.

That’s what makes them the great builders and traders of the realm, at home just about anywhere, and it’s also what makes them Restless. They’ll tear down what their grandparents built and put up something new before the old thing has even stopped working. The longer-lived races find this exhausting, and Humans figure those races are just slow, and mistake all that patience for Cowardice.
