What you feel, you show, so you had better learn to be honest.

The breath does not lie

A Dragonborn’s breath rises with strong feeling before the mind can catch it: a flash of anger, fear, or joy made briefly visible as fire or frost. Children are drilled to master it, but the deeper lesson sticks: since you cannot easily hide what you feel, it is better to simply be honest about it.

Dragonborn are therefore blunt, direct, and famously poor liars. Deceit feels to them not merely difficult but faintly shameful, a betrayal of the plain nature the breath keeps forcing into the open.

The colour-line

Each Dragonborn sees themselves as the latest word in a sentence their ancestors began, their draconic colour a line of temperament and duty carried down. Personal dishonour is felt to stain the whole line, ancestors and descendants alike, which only sharpens their insistence on saying exactly what they mean.

Friction

The subtle Core Races (courtiers, brokers, spies) find Dragonborn honesty tactless to the point of rudeness. Dragonborn find the smiling half-truths of “polite” society genuinely hard to trust.
